Description:
Our dog jackets have been in service in many areas of research since 1968. These jackets have allowed for long term experiments with indwelling catheters and wires which previously could only be done in an anesthetized animal. The fully conscious, unsedated animal presents a more normal physiological response.
The nylon net dog jackets allow air to circulate, while protecting surgical wounds caused by implanted catheters, probes, etc. The pockets furnish reliable housings for catheters as well as various other equipment the dog may need to carry. The jackets have also been used on coyotes, goats, sheep and swine with equal success.
FEATURES
FIT & COMFORT:
The dog jacket has a zipper down the center of the back along with lacing on each side to comfortably adjust the circumference of the jacket to properly fit the dog. A chain in the neck area adjusts the collar and discourages the dog from chewing the shoulder area. (Tip: a few drops of clove oil or an equally distasteful liquid should be applied in the areas being chewed. )
POCKETS:
One on each side measures as follows:
Small size jacket 5 1/2" x 2 1/2 x 1 1/2"
Medium size jacket 7" x 3 3/4" x 1 1/2' .
Large size and above are the same as medium.
Special size pockets are available upon request. When passing catheters, probes, etc. through the dog jacket into the pockets, a small hole should be cut in the back of the pocket. The nylon net will not ravel or run.
MATERIAL & CARE:
The dog jackets are made of washable, durable nylon net. This breathable net does not significantly add to thermal insulation of the
animal. They can be hand or home-washing machine laundered and gas sterilized. CAUTION: care must be used when operating the zippers as they can be damaged by obstructions caught in them and by the use of excessive force. Also, the zippers will not stand up to the harsh commercial laundry techniques commonly used in hospitals. DO NOT BLEACH.
SIZES:
Sizes are determined by weight in kilograms, but consideration should be given when the dog is long, lean, short or chubby of comparable weight Sizes range from 25 kgs. to 50.0 kgs. and above.
DOG JACKETS WITH SWIVEL- TETHER SYSTEM
Our swivel-tethering systems, when used in conjunction with these dog jackets create an even greater advancement in the biomedical research field. The system allows an animal to be comfortably tethered, one to four drugs infused with body fluids and electrical activity monitored simultaneously.

In this illustration, the XXXlarge dog jacket without pockets along with our swive-tethering system are integrated. The swivel is a standard size three-channel fluid swivel without electrical circuit option. Swivel configuration vary allowing experimental complexities utilizing up to four indewelling catheters and ten electrode leads.
